Herpes: What Causes the Outbreak and the Remedies?
Herpes is a virus that can be transferred by skin-to-skin contact. The term herpes can be traced back during the Greek era from which it acquired its name meaning “to creep” since this virus seemed to creep over the skin’s surface. There are several kind of herpes including the genital herpes, wherein the virus are primarily found on the private parts of the person, the cold sores or the kind of herpes that causes fever and flu and sometimes associated to having chicken pox and shingles, and the herpetic whitlow that found in the fingers . All of these herpes outbreak cause pain and itchiness on the infected areas.
Usually, herpes virus is dormant, meaning it is inactive inside the body. Once these viruses get into life, then herpes outbreak occurs. Blisters starting on the lips through the inside of the mouth can be developing once you have the fever blisters. This kind of herpes leads on having painful ulcers. Meanwhile, genital herpes outbreak happens when you have sexual contact with a person who is already infected with the virus. Genital sores are usually characterized by having painful and itchy private parts. A burning and tingling feeling can also be felt on the areas affected.
Herpes outbreak primarily occurs when there is a sudden change in the hormonal structure of our body. In women, the most common triggering factor for the outbreak is the monthly period or having menstruation. Emotional and physical stress can also activate the dormant virus lying inside the body. Too much exposure to sunlight and heat can also contributing factor. Having surgical trauma, steroidal medication, illness accompanied with fever and other injury also leads to giving the virus energy.
If you are suffering from herpes outbreak, you can apply first aid for a quick remedy. Luke warm bath with baking soda can minimize the itchiness and will also cleanse the infected area. Applying ointment on the area will also ease the pain. As much as possible do not use creams because there are ingredients present on creams that will intensify the symptoms. To prevent contact with the skin which results that aggravate the itchiness, put on some lose or oversized clothes. If you are having difficulty urinating, water therapy can be an option. There are also over-the-counter drugs that can help you manage the pain and the discomfort you are feeling.
On the other hand, a balance diet can contribute in the prevention of the symptoms. Foods with high Arginine content should be avoided because it can trigger the virus. Nuts, gelatin, brown rice, chocolate and lentils are some of these foods. Junk foods will do nothing good on our body so don’t let your child enjoy eating this kind of stuff.Not only that you need to keep your nutritional component healthy but also consider your emotional status. Once a person suffered herpes, specifically genital sores because of sexualactivities, it is hard for him to recover. Being positive and regaining the energy by letting go will help you from suffering repeated herpes problems.
