The most common mistake of people when it comes to medicine is the dosage or the quantity of intake. It would be best to take in any drug based on what your doctor will tell you. Do not take more than the prescribed Valtrex dosage. This might lead to overdose. Even if you really feel that your body can take in more dose of the drug, you should never do that. You have to think of the effects that might happen to you. The most common dosage for shingles or rash is 1,000 mg which is to be taken three times a day for seven days. You should not take more than three times a day even if the rash is really unbearable. It might even make the situation worst if you insist on the overdosage. Likewise, you should not make your intake lesser. For example, even if you feel dizzy whenever you take the drug and you only want to take it two times a day. You cannot do that. You must always follow the dosage. Otherwise, you will not get well. Surely, every herpes patient wants to get well.
For genital herpes, the usual intake for Valtrex is only twice a day for the 1,000 mg tablet. You may notice that it has a lesser dosage as compared to that for shingles or rash. However, the dosage is for a period of ten days which is longer than the period of seven days for shingles. You should always make it a point to compare the dosage for each symptom. It will be much better if you could make a notebook where you will put the dosage for shingles and that for genital herpes. Knowing the right dosage for each will help you understand more about your condition. It can help you prepare for your medicine. It can be hard for you to memorize the right time and dosage or intake for each medicine and even if you think your memory is very strong, you may not remember things all the time especially if you are being overcomed by dizziness and nausea. Well, if there are still enough time intervals between the missed dose and the next dose, then you might as well take the missed dose even if you missed the right time for taking it in. On the other hand, if it is already near the next dose or if it is already time for your next dose, then you might as well go to the next dose.
